The high standard of care at Princeton Radiation Oncology comes from the experience and dedication of our extraordinary team of radiation therapy specialists. |
Radiation oncologists oversee your radiation therapy treatments. They work with the rest of your healthcare team to develop and prescribe your treatment plan and track your progress. They work closely with your medical oncologist and other members of your team to make adjustments to your treatments and to identify and treat any side effects that may result from your treatment.
Our radiation oncologists are leaders in the field. They have worked in some of the most prestigious institutions in the country and have been noted as Top Doctors in New Jersey. Working alongside some of the most dedicated and experienced oncology nurses, technologists, and physicists in the field, our doctors lead a world-class team of medical professionals who are there for our patients every step of the way. They are devoted to a patient centered approach to cancer treatment and go the extra mile to give patients every advantage in their fight against cancer. |
Oncology nurses are registered nurses certified in oncology with training in patient counseling and managing conditions related to radiation therapy. They assist patients and their families on a regular basis throughout their course of treatments, explain and help manage possible physical and emotional side effects, and coordinate with the other members of the healthcare team to ensure that they are receiving the very best care. |
Radiation Physicists/Dosimetrists |
Radiation physicists/dosimetrists are specially trained in the measurement and application of the radiation beam for medical treatment. The radiation physicists/dosimetrists work with the radiation oncologist during the planning and delivery stages of treatment to ensure that treatments are properly tailored to each patient's individual needs. By using sophisticated computer technology, they precisely calculate the appropriate dosage of radiation for each individual patient's needs and plan the treatments. |
Radiation therapists work under the supervision of radiation oncologists to provide patients with their daily radiation treatments. They maintain the treatment machines and ensure that they are working properly. |
Social workers are trained to provide support and practical solutions to problems commonly experienced by cancer patients. Our social workers understand the feelings brought on by illness and are available to support our patients and their families. Upon request, such services as counseling and arranging for home health care are available. |
Nutritionists / Registered Dietitians |
Nutritionists / Registered Dietitians are available in all five of our treatment locations. Since the right nutrition is important in the prevention and treatment of cancer, every patient is encouraged to request nutrition counseling during the course of their radiation therapy. A nutritionist will help you to modify your eating plan if the side effects of treatment are affecting your appetite, will determine what you can eat, and can provide recipes, menu suggestions and information on ready-to-use nutritional supplements. |
